ALL THE RIGHT MOVES

“Vincent!” Her scream shrilled through the chamber. “That was – it was – it was amazing!”

“I can’t believe it either!” His harsh panting began to ease. “I never thought you would do something like that!”

As her gasps ebbed, she looked wide-eyed at her beloved. “Neither did I! But you enjoyed it, right?”

“Catherine, to say I enjoyed it would be a colossal understatement. I loved every minute of it!”

“So did I. It was beyond anything I’ve ever experienced, even in my wildest dreams. I just…”

“Hope it will happen again?” His widening grin matched hers. “So do I – as soon as possible.”

“Well, you know that old saying, Victory belongs to the persevering.” Her smile turned deliciously wicked. “And I’m ready to persevere whenever you are!”

“Uhh, I think I’m going to need a few minutes before I can persevere again. Those moves of yours…” He shook his head in admiration. “They were sheer perfection from start to finish.”

She grasped his hand and brought it to her lips. “Vincent, it’s all because of you. This never could have happened with anyone else. You have such a natural, intuitive…energy.” She winked at him. “And such dedication. When you set your mind on reaching a goal, well, no one does it better. You inspire me to achieve more than I’d believed possible.”

“Just as I’ve always been inspired by you.” He pulled their clasped hands to his mouth for a hot, firm kiss. “Since the night we met, you’ve always been my muse.”

“Oh, I like the sound of that.” Her delighted smile stoked flames within the bonded lovers. “So, does that mean you find me motivating?”

His eyes gleamed. “Yes, as well as…exhilarating…”

“And provoking? In all the right ways, of course.”

“Definitely. And we can’t leave exciting off the list.”

Her smile grew steamier. “This list applies to both of us, right?” She waited for his eager nod. “Then, I can think of one or two more words to add. How about stimulating…and, of course, arousing?”

“All of that…and more. Much more.” He sighed in satisfaction. “Catherine, you’re phenomenal. If there was an award to be given, it would surely be yours.”

“I’ll accept that honor,” she told him, her voice soft and sultry, “but only if you’ll share it with me. After all, it couldn’t have happened unless both of us had all the right moves.”

He leaned closer, and his raspy breath trembled on her skin. “It seems we bring out the best in each other…in so many ways…”

“We do.” She sighed as she stretched like a contented cat. “And while we’ve always known that’s true, I think it’s time we shared our findings with a certain someone, don’t you?”

He laughed out loud. “The timing couldn’t be better! He really needs to hear about what just happened. After all, it is Pay A Compliment Day, and we should be proud of our most recent accomplishment.”

“We certainly should!”

Together they rose and hand in hand walked to the chamber entrance. He grinned down at her. “But I’m not sure Father is going to enjoy hearing this news as much as we enjoyed making it, considering he’s always thought of himself as quite the expert in this area.”

She tilted her head and laughed up at him. “I think you’re right. And holiday or not, I don’t expect him to pay me a compliment when we tell him I finally beat you at chess!”
