A BATB ESSAY
by Nelly
An essay about the heroes of this amazing series
Catherine, New York DA’s Office Assistant, supported by her colleague Edie. She lives in her fancy apartment in the city center. Her favorite place? The balcony adorned by white and red roses and by a tea table on which there is a finely bound copy of “Great Expectations”. After having been attacked, she is miraculously saved by Vincent, a gentleman being part of a world below made of tunnels underneath the city and magic places like the Great Falls. She falls in love with him and starts dividing her life between the two worlds and sharing with Vincent some common passions like listening to the concerts in the park. She had to face constant dangers and dark spirits, going through all shades of grey but, finally, she reaches her happy life by following her heart. Now she is with her love in the chamber with a beautiful stained-glass window, where it all began.
Vincent, a romantic and handsome gentleman. He lives in the world below with his friends, among them Mouse, a funny and crazy inventor. He saves Catherine’s life after having found her dying in Central Park after a slashing attack. A special bond arises between them, and Vincent realizes that Catherine changed his life forever. Notwithstanding all adversities in living this love, Vincent will face the Abyss of his being and powerful enemies like The Alchemist, the Outsiders and The Hollow Men. Contrary to what has been said in Shakespeare’s sonnet which was quoted to state his defeat in the fight for Catherine’s love, Vincent will triumph and will live forever with his Beauty in the world illuminated by candles which gave hope to it and, because of that, are celebrated during Winterfest. At those candles’ light Vincent writes the best pages of his journal.
To all my readers, with love.
Jamie
