WHILE CAROLS PLAY
by Nancy
Tears
Her sadness
Mine
She clings
I hold tightly
No words
She trusts the one her soul loves
A last sniffle
She moves away
Tender her smile
I know the one my soul loves
Pen taken
Writing her name
Though she wills mine
Alongside
On each Christmas card
It hurts her
Me
Still
And real
Love shines
In this dark moment
Our love is peace
Living
Deepening
While carols play

Nancy, how beautifully you express the feelings of happiness and gratitude within sadness and regret. It is so honest and real and relatable.
You always find ways to show us light in the darkness. It’s a rare gift. Thank you for sharing it!
Nancy, I love reading poems, and in yours there is so much emotion and truth, but there is also hope. I enjoyed it very much and thank you for it.
