ANNOUNCING
A POETRY COLLECTION PROJECT
FOR WFOL 2025

Save Your Spot on the Shelf - a WFOL project

A CALL-OUT TO BATB POETS

Please bookmark this page
for future reference!

Greetings from your wintercandlemakers!

Great poetry is written every year for the Daily Challenges! It all deserves to be preserved as a feature for WFOL visitors to enjoy for years to come. So, we’ve created a new Winterfest project called “Save Your Spot on the Shelf!”

We’re inviting everyone who has submitted entries to the Daily Poetry Challenges in years past to compile their contributions into their own individual collections. We’ll post your ‘book’ on a special shelf hosted on our sister site, batbtv.com. They’ll debut at WFOL 2025 but will remain available after that.

In addition to your submissions from the WFOL Daily Poetry Challenges, you may include other BatB poetry you have written (e.g., for CABB Challenges, Father’s Library, etc.).

Are you intrigued by this opportunity to become a published poet? We hope so!

Now, here’s how to do it:  (Please note: if you have saved all your work in your personal files, skip to step #5.)

1. Go to one of the past WFOL sites. Go to https://batbwfol.com and click on the door leading to Past Winterfests.

2. Choose a past WFOL. Go to the Great Hall, then the Library, and then Poetry (or Daily) Challenges. NOTE: prior to WFOL 2024, the Poetry Challenges were called the Daily Challenges.

3. Now scroll through that year’s Poetry Challenges to find your submissions. Copy and paste them into a new document.

4. Continue with all past WFOLs where your work was included. Once you’ve completed the process for the first set, it’s very easy and efficient to travel to the rest. Here’s how:

Beginning with WFOL 2023, you’ll see a clock hand at the bottom of the page for each chamber (right under the candles that take you forward and back).  Stay on the Library page, click the clock hand in the direction you wish to go (past or future), and it will take you directly to that year’s Library page. No need to scroll through all the other chambers to get there.

5. For each of your poems, please specify which type of poetic form it represents(e.g., haiku, limerick, free verse, etc.).

6. Your work may be organized in whatever way you wish; e.g., by type of poem, year published, theme, place of publication, random — totally your choice.

7. While we will provide the cover for your ‘book’ (see the image attached below)you can decorate the inner pages any way you’d like. You can use various fonts and colors.  Just be sure the fonts are legible (not too fancy), and the colors have enough contrast so they don’t disappear on the page (darker colors might show up better than lighter ones.) You may also add some images, but we ask that you keep them to a minimum as they can increase the size of your pdf file quickly and excessively.

8. Be sure to put your name of choice as the writer (real name or pen name) at the top of the first page as follows:

Poetry by _________________

9. Save and send your ‘book’ as a pdf file. IT MUST BE SENT AS A PDF in order for it to appear the way you’ve designed it.

10. Send the pdf file as an attachment to us BY FEBRUARY 1ST at wintercandlemakers2@yahoo.com.

When sending, be sure to let us know whether or not you would like your email address posted with your ‘book’.

11. Any questions?

Contact us at any time at wintercandlemakers2@yahoo.com

In future years, you may update your ‘book’ by submitting a new version. To do this, edit your old edition and republish to a new pdf file, then send it to us. However, we ask that you do this no more than once a year.

We hope you’ll be inspired to claim your Spot on the Shelf!

As always, be well … and be busy!
your Wintercandlemakers
