JAMIE’S VALENTINE

Jamie sighed as she set her bow in place.

12:01! Good, Valentine’s Day is over, she thought to herself.

She despised Valentine’s Day. To her it was just a day for couples to rub it in her face that she was alone. She didn’t mind being alone; matter of fact, she’d prefer to be alone. She just didn’t care for the mush.

She blew out her candle and crawled into bed.

What’s that? she asked herself as her head connected with something soft.

She quickly relit her candle.

A stuffed cat was on her pillow. Jamie smiled as she picked up the cat. A note fell from its collar. The note was written with crayon, and she gave a glimmer of a smile.

Jamie smiled as she held the toy tight and thought of the precious six-year-old. She would return the cat tomorrow, but for now she needed to keep it company.
