A SPECIAL SURPRISE

Written for the 2021 Beauty and the Beast Convention Drabble Contest
Gentle hands caressed the growing collection of special quilting squares and triangles. Some were a stone-washed faded blue from a chambray work shirt. Others an emerald green from a cotton jersey wrap dress. Ivory, peach, and white squares were salvaged from worn-out nightshirts, tee shirts, and even a white button-down. Soft strips of faded black lining from an old cape would become the biding edge. Yes, Mary thought as she arranged the pieces into the classic Morning Star pattern. This baby quilt brings together items from every member of this long-awaited child’s family. Vincent and Catherine will be so pleased!

I love drabble, in few words, a lot of content…joyful anticipation of a new member of the community… and happy life of Catherine and Vincent ….and that’s great.
Thanks for your note, Paula. My intention is that this little drabble will eventually become part of my ongoing BATB AU series. I jumped ahead a bit in my timeline to produce this drabble. I haven’t gotten to this point yet in my main stories. This is a glimpse of the future.
