Samantha and Ellie sang as they washed and dried the dishes.

Got no folks to speak of so
It’s a hard-knock row we hoe…

Eric and Zach joined in as they swept the kitchen floor.

William walked in and rolled his eyes. “You kids are making it sound like we torture you,” he stated. “From the cryin’, you would think this place would sink!”

All the children sang louder, ignoring William.

Oh! Empty belly life!
Rotten smelly life!
Full of sorrow life!
No tomorrow life!

William smiled before changing the words of another song from the same musical.

Little kids, little kids, everywhere I turn I can see them…

All the children laughed so hard their sides hurt.

“It’s just your normal chores. Get back to work,” he grumbled.

The children went back to their chores, still singing It’s A Hard Knock Life.
