MEETING LINDA HAMILTON

The Nicest Person in the World

by Deb Fowler

PICTURES AND NOTES FROM A PHOTO BOOK I MADE ABOUT OUR TRIP

Moira Keeley contacted Rosemarie Salvatore and me about Linda Hamilton doing a play at a local playhouse in Massachusetts. She said we could go and see her in the play and maybe get to meet her after the play.

So, of course we were in and very happily on our way.

Posters of Linda Hamilton were all over the little town where the play was,
so we stole one or maybe several.

We had lunch in the “Dirty Dancing” style Red Lion Inn and Tavern
and then we shopped in the gift shop.

Of course we found an anatomically correct lion.

We visited the awesome local library and the doors and windows
were open to the fresh air. Flowers were everywhere.

Hand-carved carousel and large carousel horse and chess set.

The Red Lion Inn, too expensive to stay there, but we enjoyed it anyway.

On to the Theater

Like A Dream, Only Better

We were waiting by the stage door.  In just a few minutes, a petite, blonde woman came out and got in a car.  Rosemarie and I thought it was Linda, but weren’t sure.

I knocked on the passenger side window and the window rolled down and…

IT WAS HER!!!!!!

We introduced ourselves and she mentioned the flowers we sent to her dressing room. She said, “Let me turn the interior car light on,” and signed a bunch of stuff for us to auction. Then she said, “Let me get out and come around and we can take pictures. Turn around to face the light” (which was a single little light).

When we turned around, there was no one there. I couldn’t believe they left her tiny little self alone with us, and it was black dark outside and we were in the middle of the country. They did not know us from Adam’s house cat and they left her alone! It didn’t seem to bother her at all though, and I think our time together was better since it was just us.

I was so nervous, I think I ran my mouth a lot (which I do when I am nervous). We talked, we laughed, we talked some more, hugged, kissed on the cheek and took pictures. She seemed to enjoy it too, and I hope she knows how much it meant to us.

When you meet someone that you have loved and followed for years, you never know what their reaction will be. It was really special that she was more kind, sweeter, and more welcoming than she really had to be, and more than I could ever imagine.  It was a very, very special night.

I couldn’t stop saying, “We really met Linda Hamilton and they left her alone with us!”

(Moira hated to have her picture taken,
that is why she is in only one of the pictures).

She was just the best!

After the play we went to the Burger King drive-through. We were giggling like little girls. The Burger King man at the window was not impressed.

The weather was beautiful, especially since it was July and I was coming from Louisiana.
It felt like early spring. It was a beautiful little town and the countryside
was even more beautiful.

Moira has passed from this world now, but wherever you are, thank you so much!!!

I’m pretty sure there are more pictures that are probably on one of the
three external hard drives that I have, but I didn’t look for them.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! What a wonderful experience! I’ve always admired Linda Hamilton—she seems incredibly generous with her time and kindness. It’s lovely to see how grounded she was even then; fame never seemed to go to her head. 😊

  3. I was so glad that you shared this precious memory, holy cow you got to meet Linda Hamilton and you went prepared to have things autographed by her. I dare say I probably would have had a hard time parting with them. So envious of being able to share a trip with a purpose with friends that are part of a fan club created for the preservation of a tv show that became so iconic that it lives on. Although I have read and knew of Moira Keeley I had no idea she had passed and am so sorry. Thank you for sharing an if there is ever an addendum…
