The World Below, April 12, 1990

Dear Diary,

I’m here sitting with my beloved Catherine while writing my vows on the most unexpected day in our lives: our wedding day!

Maybe I’m not able to realize it yet, believing it’s still an unfeasible dream, an impossible love made of too many obstacles and differences between our worlds but, then, thinking about what we went through, the pain and the terror of losing each other until today, close to her with our baby smiling at us, I thank God for this miracle of love and I promise you, my dearest Catherine, eternal love, strength, courage and help. I thank you for having accepted me as I am and for arriving in my world facing sacrifices and overcoming barriers and prejudices.

I’m not afraid anymore; you covered up my tears and wiped away all my fears.

Now, more than ever, I’m aware of our bond and I’ll do everything to protect our family hoping to be of constant help for people in need below, above and beyond.

I’ll be yours for all my life and forever and we will never ever be apart.
