DRABBLE PROMPT

Catherine, Anywhere Below,
New Year’s Eve

TIME’S SQUARE
by SandyX

“This way”

“Where are we going?”

“Times Square!”

“Catherine …”

“Vincent, do you trust me?”

“Always!”

“Come on, then, we need to hurry!”

She guided him through a maze of corridors. “Duck!” she instructed as they hurried through a low entrance into a chamber aglow with sparkling lights. A glittering orb floated above. A radio clicked on and cheering voices filled the room. 10, 9, 8 …

“Just in time!”

The ball began to lower.

“How?” Vincent asked, taking in the spectacle around him.

“Magic. And Mouse.”

Vincent pulled her close. “Thank you”

“For?”

“Everything.”

“Always, my love.”

DRABBLE
by JoAnn Baca

Vincent answered Catherine’s question about New Year’s Eve. “We don’t celebrate it. Those who do go Above to join the festivities in Times Square.”

“May we…here?”

How could he refuse?

The evening came… and Catherine – carrying a large hamper. She led him to the Mirror Pool and spread out a picnic feast. As midnight approached, she asked him to close his eyes for a strawberry. What greeted his lips, though, were hers – more ripe and luscious than any fruit.

“Happy New Year,” she murmured.

“It is,” he replied. And tasted her lips again.

The fireworks Above were echoed there Below.

A RESOLUTION TO KEEP
by PearlAnn SnowStar

Vincent and Catherine walked into his chamber. He turned to put a lamp outside the chamber opening and pulled a curtain down.

She noticed the New Year Balloons by two glasses on his table, along with champagne in a bucket of ice.

He saw her amazement and said, “I had help.”

“I’m happy I get to spend this New Year’s Eve celebration alone, with you.”

“This year, Catherine, to honor our love, my resolution is going to be to open up to the possibility of our dream coming true.”

Holding her close, he whispered, “Step one,” kissing her passionately.
