Secrets of Central Park

KNOW THY TUNNELS

by Mark Hanawalt

Inspired by the Hallett Nature Sanctuary

Greeks formed their constellations
In the heavens full of stars;
In Tunnels we form ours underground
In a heaven of open souls.
In an earthly womb of generosity & love
Is a place without right or wrong;
In such a place there can only be family.

I easily see Plato conversing –
With Father, with Catherine, with Vincent,
About things that should not be,
About things that could be.
Plato tells Catherine she should remember reason;
Catherine tells Plato he should remember love.
To know thyself is to love others first.

Athena was a goddess of wisdom,
The Tunnels are wisdom in motion,
Men should listen to Catherine,
Indeed Vincent cannot help but feel her.
The Tunnels need a Mother
Besides the womb of Earth Mother,
She might take form as a family of hearts.

When will men come to know
The part of themselves they are missing?
Seek & ye shall find
What it is to be complete;
Seek & ye shall see
The beauty of whole life & living
In a place you have never been before.
