In Celebration

of the 36th Anniversary of Beauty and the Beast

We all remember the thrill of discovering our beloved BatB. It doesn’t matter if it happened thirty-six years ago or only last week. How could we have guessed when watching that first episode, our lives would be changed forever? The amazement we felt in that first moment will never leave us, nor will all the wonderful, unexpected results we’ve enjoyed because of it.

To celebrate the anniversary, CABB – New Chambers issued a challenge: Write a drabble with the theme “surprising discoveries that yield unexpected results”. We provided seven different prompts to generate mini-stories, each consisting of exactly 100 words.

We had hoped to receive 36 submissions for our 36th year together, but – and this is definitely not a surprise! – our outstanding fanfic authors produced an amazing 64 drabbles from 17 different writers!

In this collection, you’ll find an array of ‘short short’ stories – sweet, steamy, silly, salty, soothing, serene, scintillating, serious, sensitive, snuggly, and soulful – each with a surprise twist or two. They are inspired and inventive, and we’re in awe of the writers’ creativity and vision.

As always, we thank our contributors wholeheartedly. Without their talent and dedication and without your support and enthusiasm, CABB Challenges would no longer exist. Just like the tunnel community, we need each other to keep the dream alive, so thank you to all who do just that.

Our next official Challenge will be announced in early December and the stories will be posted during Winterfest Week 2024. However, we might come up with a mini Challenge before that, so please watch for updates on CABB – New Chambers, BBTV, and the BatB Facebook pages. We hope you’ll be inspired to write!
