WHY A NEW WEBSITE?

“The time has come,” the Walrus said, “to talk of many things …”

Well, maybe not of shoes and ships and sealing wax, but mostly of technology.

The original CABB website was designed with software that required the knowledge of computer coding. To maintain the site’s files and pages the administrator must know HTML and CSS and must be able to sort out the inevitable garbled code. This knowledge is not easily come-by, and the learning curve complexity makes it difficult to pass the admin role from one volunteer to another.

SandyX, the administrator of CABB with more than a decade of volunteer service, asked to pass the site to the next manager. We are deeply grateful for all she’s done to keep The Dream and the CABB website alive all these years and we’ll be calling on her for the assistance she has generously offered. On behalf of our entire community ~ Thank you, Sandy!

TeamCABB (more on that later) was formed to consider the future of the CABB site and to address some of the technical difficulties the web files presented. While we considered revamping the original CABB – meaning recreating every page and copying over every story – the task soon became overwhelming. After lots of study and with SandyX’s advice, we decided changes were necessary. We needed a website that would be easier for admins to manage and provide more options for content delivery. We wanted to move on with new projects and submissions. We wanted everything to happen sooner rather than later.

And so we decided to create a new site and to leave the original CABB website as is. All its pages and stories will remain available. Now in archive mode, the original Tunnel Tales will not be added to. All new submissions will be published here at CABB – NEW CHAMBERS.

Rest assured, CABB – New Chambers will remain a Classic BatB site.

Having moved to its new home at batbland.com, the Steam Tunnels is also in archive mode, and no new stories will be added to its index. Your newly-submitted, steamy stories will be posted here in the new Tunnel Tales library (clearly marked as such).

We’re excited about CABB’s new journey. Please come along!

A WORK IN PROGRESS

We’re just getting started! The site you see here today is just that – a start. We have plans, lots of plans.

We’ll be adding stories, poems, and art as fans submit, so if you’ve been holding on to your creations, send them along!

The site’s navigation and functions will evolve as we finish up the design work. New content will be posted. Challenges will be issued. Our newsletter – CABB FARE – will publish often.

Do you have suggestions for this new site?

LEAVING COMMENTS

Encourage your writers! The best way to have more fanfic available is to let your writers know they’re being read and appreciated.

CABB ~ NEW CHAMBERS will include a comment submission form with each story, so it will be easier now to send a message to a writer. If you prefer, you may send a message to CABB’s email and we’ll forward it to the author.

It will make a difference!

WHO IS “TeamCABB”

As was the original site, CABB ~ New Chambers is designed and managed by volunteer fans. SandyX, CABB’s admin for over a decade, is retiring from service and a team has formed to take on the project.

TeamCABB today is: Linda S Barth (one of the founding mothers of the original Classic Alliance of Beauty and the Beast), JoAnn Baca, and Carole Whitehead. When you write to us, we’ll be answering. And when you submit your work, we’ll be getting it online for you. We hope you’ll keep us busy!
